Summary: this an unused Lile Regular 7 with early script and thin black micarta scales. A very late 1960's to very early 1970's knife -- the blade is script signed "James B. Lile" which preceded the "Hand Made by James B. Lile" script. The overall length of the knife is 8-5/8". The 4" blade with original edge is pretty much perfect, personalized with the original owner's name (Walter L. Irwin") on the back side. No checks or cracks in the thin micarta scales, the butt end drilled for a lanyard. The knife is in excellent+++ or better condition, I wiped away the patina on the brass hardware but any light wipe marks will quickly buff away if so desired.
The knife is paired with a very early shop issue belt sheath most likely made by John Lamb. Stamped 7 on the back belt loop, the sheath is in excellent condition with nothing but age spots on both sides.
9 photos for review -- as shown, a new black canvas carry case is included. If you're looking for a very early, unused, near mint condition Lile Reg 7 and original sheath for your collection.... look no further. It will be very difficult to find another this early with the JBL script, you can buy it knowing there's little to no room for improvement. Thanks and good luck.
