Summary: this is one of the rarest of them all.... Jimmy Lile's "Russellville Bowie Knife" number 1 of 50. This was Jimmy's first commemorative knife and the knife Jimmy kept for himself. The blade is etched as follows:
Hand Made by James B. Lile
1870 RUSSELLVILLE 1970
- No. 1 of 50 -
11 of these commemoratives were made with ivory handles -- the blades are made from Carpenter 610 steel. There is a full page write up in the book "James B. Lile: The Arkansas Knifesmith" that provides much more detail about this important piece.
Condition is unused / excellent, light checks in the ivory and light handling marks / carbon spots on the blade. The sheath is correctly stamped RCB on the back, you'll find light handling marks on both sides.
8 photos for review – as shown, a new black canvas carry case is included. Very few of these Russellville Commemoratives came with sheaths.... this is a extremely rare blade offering. Thanks and good luck.
