Summary: unused but resharpened (it’s wicked sharp!), an excellent example of an early model (mid 80's) Sly II survival knife. The bead blasted blade finish is excellent+++ – the knife has definitely not been used. The black cord wrap is not original, done by a previous owner but nice enough that I opted not to remove it. The original early version compass is in the butt cap and functions properly. Overall excellent+++ or better condition, one small ding on the butt cap is the only blemish I could find.
The original Johnson sheath is in excellent or better condition with a few spots / scuffs and whatnot, just normal storage marks that are rather typical of a sheath this age. The Johnson shop stamp is on the back belt loop, the original EZ Lap sharpener had some tarnish / verdigris on it but I wiped off the majority of it. Johnson was making Sly II sheaths for Jimmy from the beginning, it and the early style compass help to date the knife.
Extra sheath: a modified Spec Ops sheath that allows for compact storage or carry. Knife / sheath / keeper strap fit is perfect, a really neat additional sheath that took someone some time to fabricate.
Bonus: plastic survival gear tube with contents (matches, etc.) that I didn't pull out, all included. This tube fits snugly inside the handle and is really nice to have if you’re storing small items or money.
11 photos for review -- as shown, an original Lile business card and new black canvas carry case both included. All said and done, this is an exceptionally nice long-bladed Sly II that has never been used, one that has obviously been tucked away most all it's life. Simply a great survival knife package priced to sell -- thanks and good luck.
