Jimmy Lile "Vietnam Veteran"
Serial #081 of 100
7" Blade w/ Vietnam Service Etching
Brass Guard Drilled for Lanyards
Green Cord Wrapped Hollow Handle
Removable Knurled Brass Butt Cap
Original Johnson Belt Sheath
New Black Canvas Carry Case
550 Paracord Survival Bracelet
Summary: unused Jimmy Lile Vietnam Veteran #081 of 100 paired with original Johnson Sheathery belt sheath. Original blade edges, green cord wrap is near perfect. Light discoloration and a few handling marks on the blade, some tarnishing of the brass on the hilt and butt cap. It will clean up well if so desired but in my opinion better left alone. This is a great knife, it’s 35 years old and looks terrific.
The sheath is original to the knife and in excellent condition. Supple with solid stitching, correctly stamped with no carry wear. Light handling only, a dent and some darkness at the throat and on keeper strap from knife storage.
7 photos for review – as shown, a new black canvas carry case and 550 paracord bracelet both included. These Vietnam Veteran Commemorative pieces can be tough to find and are considered a "buy" under $1,800. I picked this one up in a trade and at $1,450 there's definitely a good bit of meat on the bone. This knife should increase in value over time, perfect for long term investment or collection purposes. Thanks and good luck.
This model is featured on pages 192 - 194 in the book "James B. Lile – The Arkansas Knifesmith".
THE VIETNAM COMMEMORATIVE COMBAT KNIFE
In 1982 Lile made one hundred Combat-type knives of 44C stanless steel, having hollow and waterproof handles wrapped with dark green nylon cord. This knife's blade length is 7 inches, with a 12-inch overall length, and it weighs 14 ounces. It has a brass butt cap, knurled with thong hole and a skull-crusher. The cross guard and butt cap are brass, with holes for lashing. It was delivered with a military-style sheath of 10-12 ounce, top-grain cowhikde with a tie-down tab. Serial numbers 1 through 30 and 61 to 73 have satin-polished blades and a matte finish on all other metal surfaces. Serial numbers 31 through 60 and 74 to 100 have an overall matte finish."
