Summary: this is a Mad Dog "SEAL ATAK" with a 6-3/4" Starrett 496-01 blade and vintage etched "MAD DOG SEAL ATAK" trademark. The handle material is the proprietary glass / epoxy composite -- compression bonded to the hidden full tang and incredibly ergonomic. Overall length is 11-1/2". The previous owner used the knife on occasion, there are visible kydex scratches on both sides from knife / sheath insertion. I would say the knife is in "excellent user" condition – lightly sharpened but definitely NOT a hack job.
The ATAK sheath is original to the knife and scribed "ATAK 2-14-98" on the back. The sheath is in excellent condition, scuffs on both side but still rock solid.
Bonus: multi-colored 550 paracord survival bracelets. Made in the USA, easy to use / wear / carry, and unraveled gives you just about 14 feet of lifesaving cord that will look great wrapped around your wrist until you need it.
9 photos for review – as shown, I'm including a new embroidered Mad Dog carry case for knife storage. This is the perfect knife for the buyer looking for an early / rare MD for field use who doesn't want to pay full pop – snap this one up as it's less expensive and still very collectible! Neat with the vintage blade etching – thanks and good luck.
