Reference: Yapavai Firearms Academy, Louis Awerbuck

Summary: this is a previously owned but unused YFA (Yapavai Firearms Academy) Tanto with a 6” partially serrated blade and black composite handle. Original edges and perfect serrations, no signs of use. There are a couple of very light kydex rubs, no big deal. Trademark “Mad Dog” engraving on the ricasso. This particular version was made after the original numbered YFA’s were made, there were about 35 of those and they had 5-1/2” partially serrated blades.

The knife comes with the original ATAK sheath with no carry wear. The previous owner wrapped some paracord around the sheath, looks good so I’m leaving it alone. A bit of paint missing from the rivets, quite the easy fix. All said and done, and easy 9/10.

Blade: 6" Tanto, Partially Serrated
Blade Stock: 1/4"
Overall Length: 10-1/2"
Handle: Proprietary Composite

10 photos for review – as shown, a new Mad Dog Knives carry case is included. The original (numbered) YFA Mad Dog’s were co-designed by the late Louis Awerbuck, a name synonymous with firearms training at the Yapavai Firearms Academy. A simple google search will tell you all you need to know, the man was a legend and was instrumental in this knife design. This is a fantastic find, probably no more than 50-60 of these were made. Thanks and good luck.
