Summary: this is a vintage John Nelson Cooper custom utility knife with cast aluminum handle. This knife has a 3-1/2" blade with original edge (4" from tip to handle), made from 3/16" stock with an overall length of 8-1/4". The tang is stamped with the "COOPER on a EAGLE" logo with "CUSTOM" stamped below, the handle is made from cast aluminum and is jimped along the bottom for increased grip. The handle has a coating very similar to the Gerber knives with the Armorhide handles, they offer great grip and feel excellent in hand. Condition of the knife is unused / excellent+++ or better, the blade with original finish.... no chips in the handle coating.
I believe the pouch sheath is original to the knife, single stitched with belt loop. The sheath is in excellent+++ condition, you'll find a few scuffs / light spots... all quite minor.
7 photos for review – as shown, a new black canvas carry case is included. These Cooper knives with the cast aluminum handles were made when Cooper lived & worked in Texas, they are pictured in the Cooper book on page 80. (see photo 7) Rare and perfect for collection / investment purposes – would also be a fabulous knife to use on a regular basis. Thanks and good luck.
