Note: for comparison purposes, photo 8 shows this knife next to a standard S4. S4 sold separately, not included in this listing
Summary: c Made in 2010 (per Rob Bayley), this knife has a 5-1/4" blade (RWL-34), black G10 handle scales and comes with a black leather survival sheath and C.O.A.
Condition: the knife is unused / mint, the original black sheath with just a few light rubs / scuffs.
These S5's are extremely rare, this from the maker:
"The S5's are basically the S4 on steroids, stepped up by 20-25% in all directions. Never openly offered them to order, only made about 16 or so of them for returning customers in the know who wanted something different! Spread over the last 6/7 years. The first 10 were all made as one offs and had subtle differences (mainly to the choil area) I finally standardized to a common pattern for the last few from about two years back. I would say that close to half of them have green handles."
from an October 5 email:
It is one of the very early S5's, made before I finalised the model and one of the first four made I would say. Looking at the COA its a 2010 job.
9 photos for review – as shown, a new black canvas carry case is included. The original Bayley S4's typically sell for anywhere between $1600-$1750, and that's if you're lucky enough to find one! Any of Rob's knives are in great demand as his books are closed due to years and years of back orders, this particular S5 is a rare bird and a model most have not even seen! Well, this proves they exist... Rob was kind enough to authenticate the model and this knife. Priced to sell -- thanks and good luck.
