Summary: this is an old (late 1940's) Randall #3-6 and left-side carry riveted Heiser sheath. The knife has been used, resharpened and has scratches on both sides; that said, everything is rock solid and there’s tons of life left. The knife has a silver soldered brass hilt, stacked leather handle, and peened duralumin butt cap. The leather handle is also in great shape, albeit a bit dry but that’s not a difficult fix. Ditto the butt cap: excellent condition with a few scratches... note the interesting spacer pattern at the butt end.
The knife is paired to a left-side carry riveted Heiser sheath stamped with a 6 below the HHH trademark on the back belt loop. The sheath alone is probably worth half my asking price – early Heiser leather in this condition is hard to come by. Sheath condition is excellent: stitching is all solid, snaps work as they should, etc. Light handling and stains on both sides and some storage marks at the throat. As photographed, what is probably the original green label Soft Arkansas stone is in the front pouch.
6 photos for review – as shown, a black Randall Made Knives carry case is included. This is a neat old pairing worth more than my asking – it'll make a sweet addition to someone's Randall knife collection or a fabulous old knife to use now and hand down to the next generation. Thanks and good luck.
