Summary: another very rare Lile model, very few of these Deerslayers were made. I originally referred to these as muleskinners but was correct by former shop employee and knife maker extraordinaire Steven Lynn. He was working in the shop when these were made and said that very few were made because the blade grinds were a total pain in the ass to get right. Thanks Steven!

This Deerslayer has a 6-3/4" blade, single brass guard, and wood handle scales held in place with two piece Loveless-style bolts. The blade is script signed "Hand Made by James B. Lile", tapering tang at the butt end with red tang liners. (see photo 6) Overall condition is excellent+++ with no signs of use, just a few light handling marks here and there that are all quite minor. Tarnish on the guard and pins, will clean up well but I opted to leave it all original. Overall, an easy 85 or better on a scale of 1 to 10.

The knife is paired to the original leather belt sheath with keeper strap. This Deerslayer was stored out of the sheath at all times, the sheath in excellent or better condition with just a few light scuffs / spots from 50+ years of storage and handling.

7 photos for review – as shown, a new black canvas carry case is included. This is one of only a handful of this model made, perfect for hunting / heavy duty use. Never offered in any of the Lile catalogs, so obviously a rare bird and perfect for collection / investment purposes. Thanks and good luck.
