Description

Summary: a very rare model SX with the ivory micarta scales, per Vaughn Neeley one of only handful made with this material. This knife has the original edge and has not been resharpened – blade is flawless. You'll find a few light wipe marks on the aluminum bolsters, all very minor and would easily buff away. Long story short: this is a very clean and rare vintage Timberline survival folder in unused / near mint condition.

Blade Length: 3". Overall (open) length: 7-1/2"

The original Timberline sheath has the hex tool to remove the scales. I didn't mess taking photos of the scales off, everything is there underneath all sealed tight. For reference, I've included a photo off the internet of what the “scales off” look like and what’s stored inside them. (see photo 8) The sheath is in near mint to mint condition, a couple of very light scuffs that are extremely minor.

Bonus: 550 paracord survival bracelet, size small.

8 photos total for review – as shown, a new black suede carry case included for knife storage. In the 1987 Cutlery Shoppe Catalog the Timberline SX Survival Folder is shown on page 22 with the retail price at $390. These original SX's have appreciated over the years, I’ve seen some sell on eBay upwards of $700. Suffice to say, this folder / sheath package is priced quite well, a great find with the ivory micarta scales. Thanks and good luck.
