Lile Interframe Hatchet
Bowie #1 of 3
This is an ultra rare, elegant, and drop dead gorgeous Lile Hatchet / Bowie Set #1. Jimmy made a total of three of these combinations and I have this and the #2 set in my collection. The interframe handles are inlaid with walnut, turquoise and elephant ivory -- the Bowie is 11-1/2" OAL and the Hatchet is 11" OAL. -
Lile Tomahawk
Fingered Stag / No. 1
Script Signed "James B. Lile 8-5-70"
As early and old as you'll find, this is the No. 1 Lile Tomahawk. This piece is approximately 11" tall with a head approximately 6" across. The grind is slightly different than the other Tomahawk's in my collection -- the butt end of the head on this one is more round and also sharpened on the upper edge. -
Lile Tomahawk
Engraved by Shaw-Leibowitz
This is an early Lile tomahawk with both sides of the blade engraved / signed by Sherrill Shaw and Leonard Leibowitz. (aka Shaw-Leibowitz) This piece is fitted with a brass hilt, beautiful stag and a brass butt cap. The "Hand Made By James B. Lile" script signature is just above the hilt. -
Lile Tomahawk Trio:
Stag, Walnut & Ebony
Three Lile Tomahawks with different handle materials. One with thick stag, one with fingered walnut, and one with fingered ebony. All three bear the "Hand Made By James B. Lile" script signature. -
Lile Single Blade Axe
Soft Prototype
Black Micarta
Another Lile soft prototype... this one's fitted with a black micarta handle. Screws through the micarta keep everything nice and tight -- it's rare to see this type of handle attachment on a Lile. -
Lile Single Blade Axe
Flawless Stag
Sheath Made by Jim Buffaloe
This is a Lile single bit axe with brass pins and nicely matching stag slabs that are drilled and lined for a lanyard. The head measures 4-3/8" across with a 3" sharpened edge -- length of the axe (top dead center of head to handle butt) is about 8-1/2". This axe has not been used or resharpened -- stamped LILE above the handle.
